Nathan Drake is the man behind Reawaken Hymns. He is a worship leader and songwriter.
History[]
Nathan Drake began his Reawaken Hymns project in 2015. He wanted to develop classic hymn arrangements that could both be played in contemporary worship settings and be recognizable enough that people who were familiar with the songs wouldn't be put off by them. He began the project with chord sheets for acoustic guitar and acoustic recordings of the hymns.
In 2019 he released a CD of modernized hymns in full band arrangements titled "The Modern Hymnal, Volume 1." In 2020 he partnered with writers Cameron Frank and Norman Preston to produce an advent devotional and 25 song CD release, "The Soul Felt Its Worth." That release led to the team creating a trilogy of full band CD/devotional releases under the banner of "The Trinity Project" in 2021-2022. Each devotional and album featured hymns focused on different persons of the Trinity - Father, Son and Spirit.
In 2024, with the song "Sovereign Sacrifice," Nathan began releasing his own original worship songs along with his arrangements of classic hymns. His first album of all original songs, "Exegesis," is set to release in 2026.
