Talbot began his career touring with his brother Terry as the Talbot Brothers. In 1976, Talbot signed with Sparrow records and released his eponymous debut album.[3] A year later, he released his second album, The New Earth.[4] Subsequent albums included The Lord’s Supper, Come to the Quiet, and God of Life, which contained Celtic influences after a trip to Ireland.[3]

In 2006, a two-CD collection of Talbot's work, The Ultimate Collection, was released by Sparrow Records.[5] In 2011, he released his 52nd album, Worship And Bow Down, a collection of chant-style songs intended for use in personal and collective prayer.[6]

In 2016, Talbot released the album The Inner Room, released on his own label, 'Troubadour For The Lord'.[7]

Faith[]

Talbot was raised a Methodist, however joined the Catholic church in the late 1970s.[8] He founded the Brothers and Sisters of Charity, a Catholic monastic community.[9]

During a 2014 mission in Iowa, Talbot emphasised the importance of good music and good preaching, stating that these would 'translate to a deeper-engaged encounter, a personal relationship with Jesus'.[8]
