Dana Key (1953 - 6 June 2010) was an American musician who formed the duo DeGarmo & Key alongside Eddie DeGarmo. He released two solo albums.[1]
Career[]
Key formed the band DeGarmo & Key alongside his friend Eddie DeGarmo in 1977. The duo signed with Lion and Lamb Records, recording albums including This Ain't Hollywood,[1] which was nominated for a Grammy award.[2] In 1983, the duo signed with Benson, releasing albums throughout the 1980s before splitting in 1994.[1]
In 1993, Key formed a supergroup called Mesa, along with Dallas Holm and Jerry Williams.[3]
Key released his first solo album, The Journey: Walking With Jesus, in 1990, with label Forefront. In 1995, he released his second solo album, Part of the Mystery.[1]
Faith[]
Key became a Christian in the early 1970s, when DeGarmo, who had become Christian a day earlier, led him to Christ.[1]
After ending his music career, Key founded The Love Of Christ Church in 2002.[1] He served as senior pastor of the church until his death.[4]
After Key's death, DeGarmo stated that he 'lived his life fully dedicated to building God's kingdom with every breath he took'.[5]
Death[]
Key passed away on 6 June 2010, after suffering a blood clot.[1]
