Carman was born in 1956. He was raised in New Jersey, USA, the yougest of three children in an Italian-American family.[1]

In 1987, Carman signed with record label Benson, with whom he released A Long Time Ago...In A Land Called Bethlehem in 1987, and Radically Saved in 1988.[3] In 1989, he released Revival In The Land, which topped the Christian music charts of the time.[1]

Faith[]

Carman became a Christian at an Andraé Crouch show. He later remarked ‘It wasn’t that he was doing anything musically that hadn’t been done. But when he was singing you could feel the presence of God, and it was a whole new ballgame.’[1]

Carman was known for using his imagination and for emphasising the presence of demons, both active on Earth and in heaven.[3]
