Apologetix are an American band who perform Christian parodies of popular songs. They have released over 50 albums.[1]
History[]
AologetiX was founded by J. Jackson in 1992, in Pennsylvania, USA.[2] Jackson had used parodies of songs to memorise Bible verses, and began collaborating with future bandmate Karl Messner after performing some of his work at a Bible study group.[3] The name 'ApologetiX' is a play on the word 'apologetics', meaning a defence of the Christian faith.[2]
The group made their first appearance on a local Christian TV show in 1995, and released their first CD in 1997.[3] During their existence, the band have performed with Steve Carroll, former keyboard player for Elvis, as well as with rock group Everlife.[4]
In 2018, the group released their 50th album, entitled 'Xit Ego Lopa'.[1]
Faith[]
In a 2010 interview, Jackson described the mission of the group as 'to reach the lost and teach the rest. We want to get people interested in reading the Bible for themselves. The message is ministry. The medium is entertainment.'[2]
