Amy Grant (born November 25, 1960) is an American singer whose career began in Christian music.[1] Later, she succeeded in moving to the mainstream music scene, but is now performing and recording Christian music once again.
Career[]
Grant signed with the record label Word Records in 1977 at the age of 17.[2] In 1978, Grant released the album My Fathers Eyes, which was nominated at the 1979 GRAMMY Awards in the Best Gospel Performance category.[3]
In 1982, Grant released the album Age to Age.[2] The album became Grant's first to win a GRAMMY Award, winning in the Best Gospel Performance category.[3]
In 1991, Grant recorded the album Heart In Motion. This was the first of Grant's album to contain mostly non-Gospel centered music, with only one song on the album having a specifically Christian message.[2] The album included the single 'Baby Baby', which peaked at number 2 on the UK's Official Singles Chart.[4]
In 1994, Grant released the album House Of Love. The album was produced by Keith Thomas and Michael Omartian, and recorded in her hometown of Nashville.[5] Her album Behind The Eyes was released in 1997.[6]
Grant released the album Legacy in 2002. The album drew on hymns and songs which had previously inspired her, and was produced by Vince Gill.[7] In 2010, she released Somewhere Down The Road, an album featuring new and previously unreleased music, including a duet with her daughter.[8]
In 2016, Grant released a Christmas album entitled Tennessee Christmas.[9]
