Above the Golden State is a contemporary American Christian trio from Portland, Oregon. Their debut album, Above the Golden State, was released July 22, 2008. It included the hit single Sound of Your Name. A non-album single called Under the Mercy was released to iTunes on February 17, 2009.
History[]
Lead singer Michael Watson was signed by Sparrow whilst studying at Calvary Chapel.[1] He formed the band alongside Brook Mosser, who had previously recorded music with Telecast,[2] and Tim Aylward.[1]
The group's self-titled debut album was released in 2008, which entered the Billboard Heartseekers Albums Chart.[3] In 2010, the band released an EP entitled The Golden Rule.[4]

When describing the aim of the band, Watson stated 'Above The Golden State has no desire to bring glory to itself, but to join in with you and everyone else to glorify God together. We know not to find our worth in anything other than Jesus Christ.'[1]
